Predictions

Sizzle or Melt?

It’s Easter but the Premier League might just be about to hit boiling point as the European and relegation battles start to sizzle. Who will survive the heat and who is going to melt in their respective battle?

Tottenham vs Bournemouth

A win here for Tottenham will place massive pressure on Chelsea, when they head to Manchester United on Sunday.

Spurs are currently invincible at home so expect Bournemouth to come here and sit back, attacking on the counter.

Harry Kane will be keen to prove why he deserves his PFA Player of the Year nomination here. Dele Alli however is surely looking to show why he should of also been on the shortlist, despite being up for Young Player of the Year.

Eddie Howe’s side have often come alive against the big guns. This season has seen them collect seven points against the current top six. That shows how unpredictable their side is.

The earlier meeting this season saw the Cherries hold the North Londoners to a stalemate. If they can replicate that performance here, a point would be richly deserved because it was an outstanding effort from a small club.

Bournemouth will defend deep and grab something on the counter but can see only one outcome.

Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Bournemouth

Result: Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 Bournemouth

Crystal Palace vs Leicester

With their UEFA Champions League quarter final still alive, expect Leicester to rest several players again.

Crystal Palace have been in scintillating form since the international break with shock victories against Chelsea and Arsenal. Another win could well see safety fall within sight for the Eagles.

Both clubs are currently in form making this clash unpredictable. Leicester have the upper hand after winning the last three meetings and will be keen to produce a quality performance.

The Foxes are on course to record the worst finishing position ever for the defending Premier League Champions. West Brom currently occupy the worst finish spot in eighth place and are just eight points ahead so three points here is vital, if want to catch them.

A draw here is probably the most logical outcome looking at the form of both teams. Leicester themselves have struggled away from home this season so will be hoping for a clean sheet.

Prediction: Crystal Palace 0-0 Leicester

Result: Crystal Palace 2-2 Leicester

Everton vs Burnley

Everton can leapfrog Arsenal and Manchester United into fifth spot, should other results go their way this weekend.

Burnley are however without any away victories but have been improving on the road in recent months.

The Toffees home form is amongst the best in Europe since 1st January, only beaten by Barcelona who have 28 home goals to Everton’s 26.

That record could well grow against Burnley, if they can get their defence sorted after a crazy performance last weekend.

There will only be one result here but the Clarets will continue to show signs of improved away form.

Prediction: Everton 1-0 Burnley

Result: Everton 3-1 Burnley

Stoke vs Hull

Stoke are looking to end a poor run of four straight defeats but face a Hull side looking to avoid relegation.

Stoke haven’t won since their 2-0 beating of Middlesbrough with four defeats on the bounce. A return to winning ways is necessary to avoid questions being raised about Mark Hughes’ future.

Hull’s away form however is dire with no win on the road since August.  They however need to start picking up wins away from home, if want to definitely survive because cant rely on their home form to secure safety.

The Potters have only lost to Hull once in their last 13 clashes. Five clean sheets in the last six fixtures have been recorded by Stoke making this tougher for Hull’s tigers.

With so much on the line, expect a few goals here.

Prediction: Stoke 2-1 Hull

Result: Stoke 3-1 Hull

Sunderland vs West Ham

Defeat here and Sunderland can start saying farewell to the Premier League.

The Black Cats have entered last chance saloon and their run in is relatively good. They face five of those just above them in the next month so need to win every game.

Another thing to take heart from is that their home record is improving with just two defeats in their last nine home games. If they can push on and make the Stadium of Light a fortress, expect one miraculous escape.

They are however without a goal in seven matches making getting out of the saloon near impossible.

Both sides have been in woeful form lately but this is Sunderland. Their performances normally sky rockets about now so reckon a win for the Mackems here.

Prediction: Sunderland 2-1 West Ham

Result: Sunderland 2-2 West Ham

Watford vs Swansea

Watford are looking for a top ten finish but face a struggling Swansea side, who need a win in their fight against the drop.

You have to fear for the Swans but their record against Watford is excellent with just one defeat in their last seven meetings.

Troy Deeney vs Fernando Llorente should be fun after both missed last weekend’s action. Unlike Deeney, Llorente has the better experience so should really be stepping up his game to get his team out of trouble.

This match looks like it could well be dull but there should be at least one goal in this. With mounting pressure to halt a five match run without victory, Swansea might just nick this one.

Prediction: Watford 0-1 Swansea

Result: Watford 1-0 Swansea

Southampton vs Manchester City

This is a must win fixture for Manchester City ahead of their FA Cup semi final.

St Marys has been something of a dodgy ground for the Citizens, who have just two wins at Southampton in seven Premier League meetings.

Both sides are currently in decent shape but Claude Puel has failed to guide the Saints to a single victory against the current top six teams.

Should Everton win their match, the pressure will really be on City to win here to avoid getting dragged into the Europa League spots.

Given their record at St Marys and with two huge fixtures on the way, expect another miserable trip south for City here.

Prediction: Southampton 1-0 Manchester City

Result: Southampton 0-3 Manchester City
