Old Foes reunite

Tonight sees two more Champions League ties take place with two tasty reunions on the cards.

Arsene Wenger takes his Arsenal side back to Bayern Munich, where they exited the competition in the 2012-13 and 13-14 seasons. With rumours of the Frenchman bowing out at the end of this season growing stronger by the day, victory over Munich will be a great moment if this is his final tilt at a European title at the Gunners.

Real Madrid host a deadly Napoli side that will be hoping to take a lead back to their ground.

Bayern Munich vs Arsenal

These sides have met in two of the last four seasons but previous first legs were at the Emirates. Could this season be the one where Arsenal see off their German foes with the legs the other way round?

Petr Cech will be rested tonight with David Ospina getting the nod after guiding the English club to top spot in Group A. Cech shouldn’t be too disheartened about being dropped because Mesut Ozil is expected to keep him company on the substitutes bench.

Bayern have a full squad to choose from for tonight’s clash after Xabi Alonso was ruled fit despite picking up a knee injury in the past week.

The match should be feisty because the visitors like to score plenty at the Allianz Arena. Bayern have kept most of their players from the title winning 2012-13 campaign but are they now past their best? The main threat will be Robert Lewandowski and Arsenal’s defence isn’t exactly the most solid of back lines.

Prediction: Bayern Munich 1-2 Arsenal

Result: Bayern Munich 5-1 Arsenal

Real Madrid vs Napoli

Both sides come into this meeting in similar form. Madrid have only lost twice all season but Napoli are unbeaten since October. Who will emerge victorious from this unpredictable tie?

Real have Cristiano Ronaldo back tonight after he recovered from a knock during the weekend’s win over Osasuna. Gareth Bale however will play no part in the first leg.

Napoli will be delighted to have Arkadiusz Milik back in the fold after an cruciate ligament injury. Could he be one to put a spanner in the works if can hit the ground running?

The game itself should be competitive and both teams won’t want to lose this leg given their form. It wouldn’t be a surprise if don’t get many if any goals at all given how tough it is to call a winner.

Prediction: Real Madrid 0-0 Napoli

Result: Real Madrid 3-1 Napoli
