Predictions

Huddersfield Town vs Brighton & Hove Albion

Tonight sees two promotion contenders in the Sky Bet Championship go head to head at the John Smith Stadium as Huddersfield host Brighton.

Team News

Huddersfield are expected to give Colin Quaner, his first league start after contributing to an impressive away victory at Rochdale on Saturday. Joe Lolley and Kasey Palmer could be recalled to the squad after recovering from injuries. Sean Scannell  is still out with an ankle injury and won’t in action for another month.

Terrier, Jack Payne is ruled out as he serves the last of a three match ban but will be back for the Yorkshire derby on Sunday against Leeds United.

Brighton will have a full squad available to choose from after resting many first team players, during their shock FA Cup exit at Lincoln City. Casper Ankergren is expected to be on the bench after back up keeper, Nicky Maenpaa took a huge fall at the weekend.

Chris Houghton will definitely be without; Bruno, Gaetan Bong, Liam Rosenoir and Sam Baldock, due to injury.

Tactics

This match is critical if Huddersfield are to keep themselves in the mix for automatic promotion. They however face a strong Brighton side that can score goals all over the pitch.

Both teams play a 4-2-3-1 formation making this match fiercely competitive and with promotion still three months away, everyone will be keen to share the points at this stage of the season.

The Seagulls hold the advantage when it comes to the head to head record involving these sides but it won’t count for much tonight because David Wagner’s side has an impressive home record that they will want to keep intact.

Brighton have two players, who have scored double digit number of goals in Glenn Murray and Anthony Knockaert. Huddersfield’s top scorer, Elias Kachunga however only has nine goals to Murray’s 15 in all competitions making the visitors a real threat up front.

Prediction:

The last three meetings at Huddersfield have ended in 1-1 draws but this is a radically stronger squad than in recent years so expect it to be much edgier with both teams attacking.

With promotion in the balance, a win for Wagner’s team will put them right in the mix and for that reason and home advantage, they should sneak a tight victory.

Prediction: Huddersfield Town 2-1 Brighton & Hove Albion

Result: Huddersfield Town 3-1 Brighton & Hove Albion
